What are 2018’s Major Golfing Events?

There are plenty of things that golf enthusiasts, like yourself, look forward to this 2018. Aside from Tiger Woods’ imminent return, major golfing events for this year is something to be excited about. In order to help you plan your golfing trips well, we have compiled the major golfing events happening this 2018.

There’s nothing more special than watching the world’s best golfers play on the most breath-taking courses. This article will give you the basic information of each event, so make sure to write it down in your calendar and do not miss any!

42nd Ryder Cup

The Ryder Cup is a men’s golfing competition between teams from the United States and Europe. This competition is done every two years with the location alternating between courses in United States and Europe.

For this year, the 42nd Ryder Cup will be held over the last weekend of September. As mentioned earlier, the venue is alternating and for this year, it will be held at Le Golf National in France. Did you know that this will only be the second time that the competition will be held in continental Europe? Some of past competitions were held in Ireland, Scotland and the United Kingdom.

For this year’s course, they will be using the very difficult Albatros course. It is said to be very tricky and the final four holes to be used in this year’s Ryder Cup, are surrounded by water hazards. Surely, this will be a tense and nerve-wracking competition.

US 2018 Masters

The Masters Tournament, also known as The US Masters is one of the four major professional golfing competitions. The Masters is the first major competition of the year. This year’s Masters Tournament will be played on the first full week of April starting on April 2nd to April 8th. It will be held at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. One thing to note about this competition is that it is an invitation-only event.

2018 Open Championship

The Open Championship, or also known as the British Open, is considered to be the oldest of the four major golfing events. The Open is also the only major golfing competition outside the United States. This year’s Open Championship will be its 147th and will be held from July 19th to 22nd at Carnoustie Golf Links in Scotland. Did you know that the Carnoustie Golf Links is a natural seaside links course and is believed to be one of the toughest courses in Britain and Ireland? With its strategically placed bunkers, fairways and greens, an exciting competition is guaranteed.

PGA Championship

The US PGA is an annual golf competition hosted and conducted by the Professional Golfers’ Association of America. It is also one of the four major events in professional golf. This 2018 will be the US PGA’s 100th year. It will be held from August 9th to 12th at the Bellerive Country Club in Missouri, United States.
