Course overview
Celtic Manor Resort is a legendary golfing destination in the UK. In 2010, Celtic Manor became the first Welsh course to ever host the Ryder Cup, on its stunning 2010 course, the first in history to be designed specifically for the Ryder Cup.
The Resort also offers two other world-class championship courses in the shape of The Roman Road and Montgomerie courses. Celtic Manor is a prestigious golfing destination, with it’s legendary 2010 course designed specifically for the Ryder Cup Tournament and its Roman Road and Montgomerie championship courses, combined with 5-star luxury in it’s hotel and lodges, this resort offers one of the finest destinations for a golf break in all of the UK. The highlight of Celtic Manor is the 2010 Ryder Cup course, the first course to be designed specifically for the games greatest tournament, a par-71 that runs just under 7500 yards and is full of water hazards, signature holes and memorable moments.
One of the features of the course is it’s variety, with many holes on the front-9 having links feel, before the middle part of the course presents it’s a lake-lined challenge. The very first of the resort’s courses was the Roman Road Course, which opened in 1995 and considered to be one of Wales finest inland courses, it is a par-71 designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones Senior and has hosted European and Senior tour events. The final course is the Montgomerie championship course, a challenging par-69 designed by Colin Montgomerie, who captained the Ryder Cup team here at Celtic Manor in 2010.
The course boasts spectacular views from many of the tees, breathtaking downhill shots and strategic challenges around every corner. Montgomerie has taken inspiration from his Scottish roots to create a traditional course with a links feel, enhanced by deep punishing bunkers.
