Course overview
The newer of the two courses at the Minchinhampton “New” Courses and styled as an inland links, although has hallmarks of a parkland design.
The Cherington is characterised by its vast undulating greens, thick rough and firm, fast fairways. Like it’s sister courses, it drains exceptionally well in the winter months and makes for a great destination year round.
Opened for play in 1995, The Cherington was proud to host the Open Championship Regional Qualifying between 2002-2007 and regularly stages other significant events. It’s older sister The Avening Course now hosts Open Qualifying and is scheduled to do so between 2018 and 2024.
The course is one of three under the management of Minchinhampton GC. The third is the Old Course located 4 miles down the road. There are few better 2+ course venues in the South where all courses are of such a high quality. Unfortunately there is no accommodation on site, but we have agreements with local accommodation options to either complete a stay & play style trip or golf tour taking in other fantastic local courses at favourable rates.
