Course overview
Saunton Golf Club, Devon is one of the South West’s finest golfing destinations in the UK with both its links regularly ranking in the UK top 100. Golf has been played over this undulating links landscape just south of Croyde in Devon for nearly 120 years.
The highly regarded East course was formed in the 1920s via the design of Herbert Fowler, who also created the wonderful 36-hole layouts at Walton Heath and The Berkshire. The East has been tipped as a possible Open Host and ranks inside the top 15 in the UK top courses list. The younger West course was opened in the 1930s but after a long period of dormancy, was revived and reopened in 1975.
This course plays second fiddle to the East in some sense, however is still one of the UK’s best links. Ranking regularly in the top 100 UK courses, the West is one of the South West golfing gems and is seen as quite the test.
You’ll find yourself tackling the elements that come with links golf along with a host of burns, streams and dunes. Accuracy is essential around the Saunton Golf Courses, or you may be climbing and searching the many sand banks for wayward golf balls. Brilliantly designed links with a wide variety of holes.
North Devon is one of our most popular destinations. We have a host of hotels in the area to choose from and the Saunton courses can be paired with nearby Royal North Devon and Ilfracombe for a true North Devon Coastal Experience.
