COVID-19 – Updates from Golf South West
Due to the current situation with COVID-19 and the effect it is having on travel around the World, we have set up this page. It will be updated regularly with our most recent communications. If you are booked into travel with us, we will do everything we can to rearrange your dates or issue you with a credit to rebook with us. As a small, family-run business, we would ask that, if at all possible, you opt for rebooking, rather than a refund. We also understand at this difficult time that there are situations where this is not possible. Please discuss this with your representative.
We are working to contact every group organiser who has tours booked in the affected months. As we have a number of individuals to get in touch with, we will be working chronologically. Response to emails may be slower than usual at this difficult time.
Update 2nd November
England to go into another national lockdown from the 5th November until the 2nd December.
All groups that are due to travel within these dates have been contacted on the 2nd November.
During this lockdown period, we will still be taking bookings for after the 2nd December and into 2021.
Wales are due to ease restrictions as planned on the 9th November. However, we will monitor to see how that develops. You will only be able to visit Wales if you are allowed to by your Gov rules and travel advice.
Update 19th October
The second spike is currently active in the UK. Isolated local lookdowns are active and the situation is being monitored regularly.
The South West still remaining primarily in Tier 1.
If you have a booking with us, please inform us of any tier changes in your area.
Celtic Manor (Newport, Wales) remains in a local lockdown.
Update 23rd June
It has been confirmed by the government today that the reopening of hotels, bars & restaurants can commence. Guests will be restricted to 2 households maximum in any accommodation type.
Our early translation of this is –
Twin Rooms/Double will be okay
Triple Rooms (if guests are from 3 or more households) will not be okay
Self-catering and lodges/apartments that hold more than 2 people will also need to be of maximum 2 different households.
The food at the restaurants and drinks at the bar will be table service at all hotels.
No buffet breakfasts will be served.
The advised distancing rule of 1 metre will be in place for quite some time. Some courses and hotels will make it a local rule to stay 2 metres apart. Please obey these commands.
We will be in touch with all bookings, and dealing with every one case by case. We hope that we can get you back on the road playing your favourite courses soon!
Update 26th May
The government have allowed non-essential shops to open on the 15th June. Many of our hotels are still planning to reopen ASAP, the 4th July is the current benchmark.
We are expecting restrictions to still be in place, but we will continue to treat each group case by case.
Update 22nd May

Update 11th May
On the 10th May the PM announced a plan for life to slow return to normal. Although, found to be confusing for many of us, it is clear for the golf travel industry.
Hotels and hospitality will not be resuming until 1st July at the earliest. This means that all tours due to travel before 1st July will not go ahead as planned.
Golf Courses will be reopen from 13th May. However, strict guidelines to be followed. Advice can be found on the England Golf website.
We will of course be contacting those due to travel before July to discuss their options.
Update 17th April
Lock down to be extended until 8th May. During this time all venues will be closed. Individual venues may choose to extend their closure, we will notify all groups that these closures concern.
Please continue to follow the government guidelines, the sooner we all do the sooner we can return to normal
Update 24th March
Due to last nights announcement from the PM. All golf courses and hotels will be forced to close for a minimum period of 3 weeks.
We will be contacting those groups travelling within that time to re book for a later date.
Please continue to follow the guidelines set out by the government.
Update 20th March
Coronavirus Update – Busy end to the year!
As you can imagine the last week or so has been an extremely busy time for us, so we apologise for not being in touch to follow up your enquiry & quotes.
The priority has been for us to deal with the booking we have in place over the next few months.
These groups have either been opting to go ahead as planned or to move to later in the year (September & October).
The reason I’m emailing today is because it has become evident that most of the availability for September and October will be taken up. So, if you are still planning to travel to the South West this year, it would be wise to start looking at your options.
We understand that there is a lot of uncertainty to when the UK will be over this pandemic. As a result, we have decided to cut our deposits down to £1pp for stay & play resort venues & between £5-£10 per person for tours.
We are currently working closely without venues to provide some deals for November – February as these months will likely be an overflow for Sept & Oct.
If you have any questions or would like for us to check availability on some new dates for you, please let me know.
As always, the health of our customers is priority so please continue to follow the government advise and keep washing those hands!
Update 16th March
Important Information: Coronavirus Travel Advice
The health and happiness of our customers is our top priority, and we are doing everything we can to assist those who are due to travel in the near future.
We are currently contacting all customers travelling up until the 1st June to discuss their options.
Each booking will be handled on a case-by-case basis; however, options will include amending your booking, changing your dates or continuing as planned.
We are making contact in order of departure date, but we are experiencing a high volume of calls at the moment, so rest assured you will be contacted over the coming days and weeks as we prioritise those travelling in the next few weeks.
For customers travelling after 1st June, we are continuing to monitor the situation and are following the guidelines set out by WHO and the Department of Health. Should anything change that directly affects your tour, we will be in touch as soon as possible.
