The main golfing season is nearly upon us. The weather is starting to get ‘a little’ better with a few sunny spells, making it feel a little more golfing season like… As some of you may or may not be prepping for the first qualifier of the season, for some the season has already kicked off.
For a lot of the professional’s and top amateurs around the country, events such as local PGA competitions, Sunningdale Foursomes and a Winter Series are all in full swing. There has been many highlights for many top players already this season including a win for Marco Penge and Sophie Lamb in the Sunningdale Foursomes. A Great Result.
Recently Golf South West’s own Joe Bray competed in the Winter Series at The Belfry. The winter series is held every year and includes 6 rounds for Professionals and Amateurs based in a Stableford format around The Brabazon. Unfortunately due to the wetness of The Brabazon at this moment in the year…The event was a non qualifier as clean and drop was implemented for all players.
Playing off the Blue Tees.. The Brabazon was playing over 7300 Yards for the players and with wind and no roll on the fairways, the course proved to be a battle for nearly all players. With over 30 professionals playing and over 30 amateurs…Only one player broke par.. This was a remarkable -6 by Daniel Jones (Professional) that included 8 Birdies.
Joe from GofSouthWest finished a respectable 40th out of 72 competitors who were mainly professionals.
If you have your own competitions coming up..We wish you the best of luck.
