Castle Combe: An iconic location for a golf tour
Perhaps the most iconic name in the Cotswolds; Castle Combe has long held a reputation as England’s “Prettiest Village”, and The Castle Inn places right at the centre of it.
Set amongst the honey coloured stone buildings and narrow winding streets, The Castle Inn offers the most authentic Cotswolds base you could wish for when planning a golf tour in the region.
This authentic Cotswolds coaching inn is situated in the heart of the 12th century village of Castle Combe, famed for its history, Race Circuit, Five Star Manor House and role as a setting for Hollywood blockbuster films such as War Horse and Stardust.
This small inn has 12 uniquely designed rooms and offers fine food which has earned it the reputation as one of the Top 50 Gastropub’s in the UK.
Castle Combe is a busy tourist trap and parking is at a premium, so you’ll be relieved that as a guest of the Castle Inn you will have access to parking at the Manor House directly opposite the pub and also at the Manor House Castle Combe Golf Club which resides above the village.
For those playing the course during their stay, buggies can be left at gate outside the pub ready to shuttle you and your group to the first tee, giving this the feel of a stay and play golf break. The location is also central to other fantastic courses across the Cotswolds including the PGA Course at Bowood, the DP World Tour Qualifying course at The Players Club and Open Qualifying venue Minchinhampton’s Avening and Cherington.
It’s also close to both the historic city of Bath (20 minutes) and lively Bristol (30 minutes) for those wanting to explore further afield during their stay.
There is something about Castle Combe which attracts visitors from all over the World, and a golf trip with this pretty village at the heart of it will for sure produce a unique and memorable golf tour.
