Are you looking for a links resort golf break? Trevose Golf Club is very likely the answer for your next golf trip!

View Trevose stay & play packages >

The Championship Course at Trevose is the most southerly of the famed Atlantic Links network and is widely regarded and one of the finest links golf courses in England. Currently a host venue on the European Seniors Tour and in recent years a host to huge prestigious events including The Brabazon Trophy (2008), The McGregor Trophy (2012), and the English Men’s County Finals (2017).

Trevose is more than a links course where wind is its only protection. Recent extensive course developments mean each hole has real definition and the incorporation of dunes and sand into certain holes such as the 2nd and 15th give an almost desert feel to particular areas of the course. The 3rd is a spectacular par 3 over a valley, running parrell to the beach whilst the 4th is perhaps one of the most memorable par 5’s in the South West. A risk-reward dog leg that has your approach played into the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean and cliffs of Trevose Head.

Condition is generally very good 12 months of the year, but of course peaks in the summer months where Trevose is only rivaled by it’s neighbour in St Enodoc Golf Club.

After you’ve played the final 4 par, an uphill challenge to an elevated green set between the clubhouse and fairway lodges, you’ll retire to surely one of the finest clubhouse views you’ve likely ever seen. The contemporary clubhouse offers panoramic views across almost the whole course which is best enjoyed with a pint of Tribute and Cornish Pasty!

Trevose has various accommodation options on-site and a number of off-site activities including a swimming pool, tennis courts and games room. View our resort page for more info.

An enjoyable parkland course where accuracy and thoughtful course management are rewarded

Lanhydrock Golf Club is an attractive 18-hole parkland course set within a sheltered wooded valley near Bodmin. Measuring 6,078 yards from the white tees, the course is modest in length by modern standards, but mature trees, water hazards, ditches and carefully positioned bunkers ensure that accuracy is often more valuable than distance.

Several of the shorter par 4s present genuine scoring opportunities, although players who become overly aggressive from the tee can quickly find themselves blocked out by trees or playing from difficult positions. Direction is particularly important throughout the course, while the gently undulating fairways and changing elevations add further variety to the round.

The par 3s provide some of Lanhydrock’s strongest challenges. The signature 6th measures 187 yards from the white tees and requires a committed shot over water, with out of bounds waiting to the left. Water and ditches also influence the other short holes, including the demanding 17th, where a ditch protects the front of the green.

The round concludes with a 570-yard par 5 that provides a memorable final test. A tree positioned within the fairway influences the strategy from the tee, while the approach is played towards a large two-tier green where careful attention to the flag position is essential.

Two loops of nine return close to the clubhouse, making the layout particularly convenient for golf groups and societies. The course is complemented by 45 room hotel, an eight-acre driving range with covered bays, a short-game area, putting green, indoor TrackMan simulator and PGA coaching, providing everything required to prepare before a round or spend additional time practising during a golf break.

Unique town centre true links overlooking the famous Fistral Beach and the Atlantic Ocean

Nestled amidst the stunning landscape of Cornwall, Newquay Golf Club offers a captivating 18-hole links course that boasts breath-taking views across the vast Atlantic Ocean. Designed to challenge both novices and seasoned golfers, this course benefits from Newquay’s unique climate, providing a superior golfing experience throughout the year.

Strategically positioned just a stone’s throw from Newquay’s vibrant town centre, the club is surrounded by an array of accommodation options, making it an ideal choice for golfers seeking convenience and quality. The pinnacle of these is the premium Headland Hotel of which the golf course sits in the shadow. The clubhouse, perched atop the course, offers a panoramic vantage point where the journey begins at the 1st tee and culminates in the satisfying conclusion at the 18th green, with the 11th green also in close proximity.

Despite its compact appearance, the course layout is thoughtfully designed to ensure ample space between each hole, offering a fair but formidable test of skill. Golfers should be prepared to battle the coastal winds, which can transform even the most promising rounds into a challenging endeavour. However, the spectacular scenery ensures that, regardless of one’s score, the experience remains enjoyable for all participants.

One of the course’s standout features is the par-5, 8th hole, renowned for its strategic complexity and the notorious bunker that eagerly awaits to ensnare unsuspecting drives. This hole epitomizes the essence of Newquay Golf Club’s allure, combining natural beauty with a test of skill that leaves a lasting impression.

Newquay Golf Club is a cornerstone of any golf tour in the region, promising memorable rounds against the backdrop of Cornwall’s picturesque coastline. Whether you’re chasing the thrill of the game or simply soaking in the serene views, Newquay Golf Club delivers an unparalleled golfing adventure.

Trevose Golf & Country Club (Accommodation)

One of the few true championship links golf resorts in the whole of the British Isles

Are you looking for a links resort golf break? Trevose Golf Club is very likely the answer for your next golf trip!

One of the few true championship links resorts in the whole south of England and the only one in the South West. Simply home to one of the finest links courses in the UK, with the prestige of being initially designed by Harry Colt of Augusta National, Pine Valley, Sunningdale, Royal Portrush and Muirfield fame.

Trevose is the currently the annual host to the European Seniors Tour “Legend Links Championship” and as part of that honour, has invested large sums into the course in recent years. The club has also hosted some big amature events in recent years including; host some major events in recent years including The Brabazon Trophy (2008), The McGregor Trophy (2012) and the English Men’s County Finals (2017). If you have been lucky enough to play Trevose in the past, but not for some time, revisiting will not leave you disappointed.

It is no surprise that Trevose is one of the most popular golfing destinations in the South West of England. Trevose Golf Club provides breathtaking links golf at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. As with all true links the wind is always a major factor and means that no two days are ever the same at this magnificent course. The location means that golf is on offer 12 months of the year and condition is maintained to the highest possible standard.

Post round it is rare that you can sit in a contemporary clubhouse and overlook the majority of the course and bay beyond to the Atlantic Ocean. Trevose can afford you this luxury and it is a view that not even the most regular member would take for granted, especially during one of Cornwall’s spectacular sunsets.

Alongside the Championship course, Trevose offers a different challenge in the way of the Headland course. Measuring just over 3000 yards the headland course provides a thrilling 9 holes of golf including a truly unique view awaiting you upon your arrival at the 5th green! The final piece of the jigsaw at Trevose is The Short Course set around the Chapel of St Constantine’s. The Headland is a par 3/4 course that will allow the less experienced golfer to enjoy the delights of Trevose without fighting around the 7000+ yard Championship course. The Short Course is also regularly used by experienced players looking to hone their short game before the main event.

Off the course Trevose also offers guests a games room, tennis courts, outdoor swimming pool, padel courts, driving range, short-game area, function room, modern bar with local ales and wines, and a highly rated restaurant.

A note that Trevose is an incredibly popular venue and as preference is provided to the incumbent booking for the same dates the following year, availability in the accommodation can sometimes be a problem. With that in mind, we strongly recommend considering nearby The Point at Polzeath as a base for your North Cornwall golf tour. Apartments of an exceptional quality and located just 5 minutes from St Enodoc Golf Club. Trevose is a 35 minute drive around the Camel Estuary.

General FAQs

  • Who are Golf South West?

Founded in 2015, we are first and foremost the West Country golf travel specialists. We provide our clients with bespoke golf tours and stay & play golf packages for small groups and golf societies alike.

We are both a domestic golf tour operator working directly for our clients and regional golf DMC who act as an agent for international outbound operators hoping to have their clients experience the beautiful West Country and it’s golfing delights!

We work closely with our venues to ensure our customers receive the best value and service available for golf travel within the region.

In 2023 we welcomed 2 new brands into the GSW family. Golf South East and Golf North West. Both offering the same expert service which our clients have come to expect from Golf South West, with experts in each respective region.

  • Which regions are covered by Golf South West?

Golf South West is the West Country’s premier golf tour operator covering the regions of Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Bristol, Gloucestershire, Dorset, South Wales and Hampshire.

We also work with selected, popular golf resorts across the UK including those under the management of Marriott, plus 4 time Ryder Cup host The Belfry, Celtic Manor and many more.

If you are planning a golf break, we are the only call you need to make.

  • What is the best way to get in touch?

We are available by phone 0117 256 5966 (Monday – Friday, 9am to 5pm), WhatsApp, email, enquiry form or via social media channels.

  • Why choose Golf South West as your tour operator?

GSW is run by golfers and endorsed by golf professionals across the South West of the UK.

We are a fully insured, experienced and recommended golf tour operator, who are insured by an ABTOT bond, meaning your money is secure and safe.

We offer tours to a largely exclusive and unrivalled selection of venues across the Southwest of England and Wales, including some courses which can be tricky to access.

We are also proud members of Golf Tourism England and IAGTO, who only work with only the best and most reputable companies in the industry.

You can rest assured that as a client of Golf South West you will not only receive the best service, advice and choice, but you will also find the best value golf breaks in available in the West Country.

  • What happens if we can’t go on our planned trip?

Holding deposits are non-refundable, but they are transferable* to a new date or break. We aim to be as flexible as possible and will treat each situation on a case by case basis. Full deposits are non-refundable so please only commit and pay for those in the party who are definitely able to attend the trip.

    * Some venue restrictions apply. Terms vary depending on the venue and cancellation term booked. Phone GSW consultant can advise you of this.

  • Can we make changes to our break?

Managing a group can be a thankless task and changes to the group leading up to your break are an accepted element. We make changes as stress free as possible (just see our reviews for evidence of this!). Changes can be made up to 6 weeks prior to your break. Some changes are unavoidable so for legitimate reasons we will endeavour to make last minute changes after this period, but as we would have paid our venues at this point, this would be at the discretion of the venue(s) you are visiting. Please note a £25 admin fee will be applied for changes inside 6 weeks.

  • Why book with a tour operator?

Good question, could you not do this all yourself? The answer is yes you could. You are able to locate the ideal hotel with the accessibility you need to the clubs you plan to play. You could go back and forth with your target venues and line up the tee times.  You could also contact each venue individually to advise them of group number changes and requests during the build up to your trip.

    Alternatively you could;

    – Talk to us about the trip you are planning.

    – Receive quotes for perfectly crafted package meeting your ideal requirements.

    – Secure the booking with small deposits staged in a way to make your life easier as an organiser.

    – Have your funds fully insured and independently held by PTS, our client trust provider.

    – Have changes made to whole tours with just one call or email.

    – Receive exclusive extras such as free places.

    – Pay less with our packages than going direct to venues.

    Why can we do this?

Quite simply we have spent years (since 2015) forging strong relationships with hotel, golf club and golf resort venues across the South West. We are the expert tour operator for the region and are know for our high quality and personal service to our clients (just see our Google and TrustPilot reviews).

  • Who uses Golf South West?

The majority of our clients are UK based domestic travellers. We deal with groups of any size, from single travellers and couples, to large golf societies.

We also are the favoured golf DMC for the South West of England and preferred regional partner of Golf Tourism England. We regularly work with tour operators from Europe, America and elsewhere to provide bespoke tour packages allowing overseas travellers to experience the beautiful West Country.

  • How are package prices displayed on our website?

Prices on our our website are displayed in two ways. The first is on our Resort pages where pricing tables show the from prices for low, mid and high season golf stay and play package rates at golf resort venues.

The second is on our example tour package pages. There are often 4 prices shown here, two for low season and two for high season. The struck through price typically shows the highest price the tour can be and is often active over weekends in that season. The offer price is typically a mid week price.

Every tour quote we offer is bespoke and will vary based on a number of factors including the date, availability, group size, room type, time of day for the tee time, etc… Our package pricing is a guide to the cost of the package and is not a firm price. Please enquire for an exact cost.

We aim to provide as accurate a price as possible and therefore try to avoid using shoulder/mid season pricing or twilight green fee rates when displaying rates. You may find an intermediate price for breaks in months of April & October at certain venues.

  • Why are golf resort prices the same as elsewhere?

Put simply, all tour operators work from the same contracted rate card when it comes to stay and play golf resort packages. When it comes to golf tours, that is a different matter, but golf resorts are a level playing field.

If you find a vastly different price, it’s likely you’ve been misquoted and usually this does come back to bite.

The question this poses is why book a stay and play golf break with Golf South West if you can book direct or with one of the large operators and receive the same price?

Benjamin Franklin once said “The bitterness of poor quality remains long after
the sweetness of low price is forgotten.”

We have a small team so booking through us means you receive a personal service. You are more than just a number to us, we are a tour operator where you will likely get to deal with the same contact throughout the process, who will get to know you and your group and respond efficiently to your queries.

We know our venues and the people who work there. This ensures a smooth process from initial enquiry to the end of your stay.

Financially you have an extra layer of protection as your money is securely stored in an independent trust account and is fully insured when it is released to the venue(s) you are visiting.

We are fortunate to have some exclusive “extras” with selected venues across the South West. We offer 1 in 16 free on most trips AND run an exclusive credit system to reward repeat bookers.

We often feel we add further value to our clients when it comes to our bespoke golf tour packages, but you can rest assured that when making a stay and play golf resort booking, Golf South West will offer you an extremely high level of service, financial protection and may even offer you a saving or an exclusive extra!
