Overview
Rosamunde Pilcher was born in the small village of Lelant, Cornwall. In 1949 Rosamunde took to writing novels, originally publishing under the name Jane Fraser. In 1955 she started writing under her real name.
Her work has been extremely popular in Germany, as more than 100 of her stories have been produced by the national TV station ZDF. Lots of the filming took place in and around Cornwall, this has had a huge impact on tourism. In 2002 she was awarded a British Tourism Award for the positive effect the books were having on Cornwall and Devon tourism.
