A fine undulating parkland in northern Cornwall
Winner of Golf Monthly Magazines Golf Course Award for the western region, Bowood Park Golf Course is one of the most outstanding of all Cornwall’s parkland golf courses. With 6,735 yards of parkland golf, this par 72 is certainly no pushover.
However, this is a venue that prides itself on maximising the enjoyment of guests and the course is regularly set up in a manner that allows this. The high spec USGA greens mean the course is rarely forced to close its doors or even to utilise temporary greens and tees. Bowood’s excellent layout brings your group back to the clubhouse after 9 and 18 and meanders through woodland and some 26 lakes and ponds. Some wonderful highlights adorn the course as you work your way around this incredibly well-designed track.
Take on the 600 yard 7th before eventually finding the signature 12th, “Azalea”. This par 4 requires accuracy to the fairway with water running all the way down your right-hand side before a targeted approach finds a small and protected island green. As promised the 18th-second shot gives you a view of the clubhouse. This setup allows for a fantastic atmosphere as you watch groups finish their round before retiring to the clubhouse bar.
