Golf at Carden Park comes in the shape of 2 championship courses, The Cheshire & The Nicklaus, each expertly designed to offer visitors a variety of challenges across both courses, all while winding it’s way through the stunning estate. The first of these, The Cheshire, is located towards the rear of the estate and is perfectly situated to enjoy views of the estate and out to the Welsh hills. The many bunkers dotted around have been designed to flow with the contours of the land, accuracy will be key for avoiding these dangerous traps, while the fairways are often lined with mature woodland ready to swallow up any wayward shots. The course finishes on a real high with the 18th hole being set upon a cliff that overlooks the whole estate, a breathtaking view that is the perfect way to finish the round. The Nicklaus course, designed by the man himself, winds it’s way around the front of the estate next to the vineyard and is a challenging course full of well placed hazards that will require a variety of strategic decisions to navigate, quite uniquely the 7th and 15th holes offer a variety of fairways from which to approach the green from, while the 16th hole is perfect for an in-group closest to the pin competition. Enjoying the same stunning views of the Welsh hills, The Nicklaus and The Cheshire courses are intricately designed courses that enjoy stunning surroundings, a round at Carden Park is the perfect way to escape from the daily stresses.

Course overview

Carden park is a 1000 acre estate set in the beautiful Cheshire countryside, boasting fantastic hotel facilities and 2 contrasting resort style 18-hole golf courses, one of which is The Cheshire. Considerably longer than its sister course the Nicklaus, The Cheshire is a fantastically laid out parkland course that winds it's way through the nearby woodland and requires quality ball striking to finish the round with a decent score. The course offers an amazing blend of heathland and woodland, and takes every opportunity to use the advantage of it's elevated position to offer golfers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding Cheshire countryside and further afield into the Welsh hills.

Course overview

Carden Park has becoming somewhat of a golfing mecca in the North West of England, a 17th Century estate that occupies 750 acres of beautiful Cheshire countryside, complete with two fantastic golf courses. The Nicklaus at Carden Park is one of these, a gem of a course designed by the famous father and son duo, opened in 1996 the course was quickly recognised as one of the best new courses in the country and has since hosted the PGA seniors tour on two occasions. The course, like many designed by Nicklaus, poses a true golfing challenge, with numerous double fairways, large water hazards and strategically placed bunkers throughout, while the natural contours of the land have been used  As with many Nicklaus courses there are numerous teeing areas, meaning the course ranges from a challenging 7000 yards if you play off the back,  down to a far more leisurely 5200 yards from the front, a design choice that means that golfers of any skill level can enjoy a pleasurable round of golf. The setting for the Nicklaus is fantastic, with numerous large water hazards, spectacular holes across streams and panoramic views that look out over the Welsh hills. The Nicklaus is well designed parkland course that can be enjoyable for golfers of all skill levels but is still a thinking mans course and will require a certain amount of strategy if you want to post a respectable score.
