Course overview

The Breadsall Priory Marriott is beautifully located in secluded countryside within the rolling Derbyshire hills and bordered by the Peak District National Park. The venue is steeped in rich history and is the oldest Marriott in the world, dating back to 1266. There are two fantastic courses on offer at the venue including the Championship course The Priory, developed by David Cox in the 1970s, the course measures just over 6000 yards in length and plays to a par of 70. The course poses a real challenge, with sloping fairways, elevated greens and plenty of sand traps strategically placed to swallow up any wayward shots, this is not a course where you should be automatically pulling out the driver, accuracy will be key for posting a low score and any local knowledge will be a huge advantage as parts of the course are subtlety designed to catch you out. The location of the course is stunning and as you walk the course you will be treated to a number of fantastic panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, more so on the back 9 where the tee positions of holes 11 and 17 offer some really breathtaking views. Overall The Priory is a fantastic course in a beautiful setting, is kept in excellent condition all year round and has is just as enjoyable to play the 2nd or 3rd time.

Course overview

The Marriott Breadsall Priory is a favourite among many golfers in the region, boasting two 18-hole golf courses in historical settings,  all the while surrounded by remarkable natural beauty. Complimenting the championship Priory course is the wonderful 18-hole parkland course the Moorland, a 6000 yard parkland layout that features excellent greens and firm and fast fairways lined by mature woodland, making accuracy the key to a good score around this fantastic course. Combining beautiful scenery, a wonderful parkland layout and memorable holes, the Moorland course certainly compliments the championship course and itself draws golfers in from the surrounding region.
