Course overview

Hanbury Manor is a fantastic 18-hole championship parkland course that stretches 7000 yards through the Hertfordshire countryside and has hosted many European events including the English Open. The original 9-hole course was designed by the legendary Harry Vardon, with the additional Nicklaus designed 9-holes being opened in 1991, creating a course where the front and back nine are distinctly different in look and feel, with the new 9-holes having a far more exposed US feel compared to the more sheltered parkland back 9 that features many tree flanked fairways. The course is offers a challenging round of golf that features many unavoidable bodies of water, strategically placed trees and bunkers and a constantly undulating terrain. There are a a number of memorable holes on the course, including the par-5 2nd, a difficult hole that features a magnificent downhill drive and a difficult approach where the green is protected by a body of water that must be navigated to hit your shot into the green. While on the back 9 the par-4 13th offers a real test of your golfing ability, with an inviting drive that must be taken on to get a good position for your 2nd shot, followed by a difficult two-tired green that is protected on the front right side by a lake, a true championship hole that required golfers to hit two accurately positioned approach shot to be able to post a good score. Overall Hanbury Manor is a fine example of a championship course, challenging but tremendously fun to play, it is easy to see why this venue is favoured by many groups as a high end stay & play venue, with it’s top quality course and luxury hotel and facilities, this venue is the perfect choice for an indulgent golfing getaway.

Managing a group can be a thankless task and changes to the group leading up to your break are an accepted element. We make changes as stress free as possible (just see our reviews for evidence of this!). Changes can be made up to 6 weeks prior to your break. Some changes are unavoidable so for legitimate reasons we will endeavour to make last minute changes after this period, but as we would have paid our venues at this point, this would be at the discretion of the venue(s) you are visiting.
