Wonderful, modern parkland resort course in Oxfordshire
Nestled in the heart of Oxfordshire’s tranquil parkland and along the picturesque River Thames you will find a golf course with a fast-growing reputation. The Springs Golf Club may only have first opened for play in 1998, but has already, and certainly since its enhancement by Tim Lobb, is making waves both locally and within the golf break market.
Revered for its aesthetic design and wonderful conditioning, the course offers a perfect blend of challenge and enjoyment, perfectly setting up for the range of golfing abilities likely to stand on the first tee.
Originally designed by former Ryder Cup captain Brian Huggett and later enhanced and modernised by Tim Lobb, the course has a unique character with a genuine variety of holes ranging from heavily bunkered approaches, to island-style greens and tree-lined fairways. The club’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its GEO Certification, a testament to its responsible stewardship of the environment and development under its current owner Darwin Escapes who purchased the estate in 2017, and have lead its transformation.
Perhaps the pick of the holes would be the par 3 8th. Requiring a carry over water, with varying wind conditions to consider. Anything from a mid-iron to a wood can be used here, as you play towards a green that is not only surrounded by water but also has bunkers covering any bailout. Quite the formidable tee shot! Practice facilities, include a driving range, quality putting green, excellent short game area and state-of-the-art GCQuad-powered indoor simulators for those looking to hone their game.
The Springs Golf Club isn’t just about golf. For those looking to stay (and we recommend you do!), it’s a fully-fledged resort offering luxury lodges and hotel accommodations, a state-of-the-art clubhouse, a delightful restaurant, spike bar and high class spa.
